City of Lawrence Job Opportunities-Solid Waste Loader (2 Openings)

Solid Waste Loader (2 Openings)
Public Works Department/Solid Waste division
Starting Salary: $14.98 Per hour
Responsibilities:      The solid waste loader will perform a number of routine manual labor tasks in the collection, recycling and disposal of commercial and residential solid waste. These positions are responsible for performing such tasks in an efficient, safe and timely manner. Additionally, provides cleanup and routine maintenance to the department‘s sanitation equipment. May assist with various special programs and services offered by the Solid Waste Division.
 
Qualifications:        Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read, write and speak English at a level necessary for successful job performance. Experience in physically demanding labor in the outdoor environment is highly desired. Must have the ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds constantly throughout the workday and have ability to withstand exposure to extreme and variable weather conditions. Requires possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid Kansas driver's license. The successful candidates must pass the post-offer City physical and drug screen.
 
Salary Range:           $14.98 to $22.24 Per hour (starting salary typically at entry level of pay range)
 
Hiring Process:        From this recruitment and interview process, an eligibility list will be created with the intention to hire full-time, regular positions AS THEY MAY BECOME available over the next 12-month period.
