FEMA Maps

The Official Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood maps, effective November 7, 2001, are shown below.

See the FEMA Map Index (PDF) below to locate a specific map. Return to this page and select your specific map (Map 2, Map 5, etc). Note: These are large portable document files and lengthy download times are possible.

The FEMA Floodplain Maps are also available for viewing in the Planning Office (City Hall, 6 E. 6th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., as well as in the Douglas County Public Works Office (see address below) and the Baldwin City Engineer's Office (telephone listed below). The FEMA maps are used to determine a property's specific flood-zone, and will determine if flood insurance is needed, or if additional land-use permits are required for land fill or development.

Full-size copies of the maps may be obtained through the Planning Office by advance order requests for $5.00 per map. Allow a minimum of three days for 3 or fewer maps. A larger timeframe may be necessary for more than 3 maps.
