The 10th Annual Lawrence Energy Conservation Fair and Sustainable Homes Tour will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City of Lawrence Community Building, located at 115 W. 11th Street.
Hosted by the City of Lawrence Waste Reduction and Recycling Division, the Lawrence Energy Conservation Fair provides an opportunity for energy efficiency and conservation organizations to reach the Lawrence market in a trade show setting. This event has grown to attract more than 600 attendees who enjoy learning from a variety of exhibitors including builders, architects, insulation experts, heating and cooling contractors, government agencies, non-profits and alternative fuel vehicle representatives.

Presentations, Workshops & Performances
11 a.m. SPEAKER: From Macro to Micro - Principles of Sustainable Residential Design - Dominique Davidson of Davidson Architecture + Urban Design LLC talks about residential housing and the associated environmental impacts.
12 p.m. PERFORMANCE: Eco Elvis - Eco Elvis is an environmentally friendly Elvis impersonator and will perform modified Elvis songs with an environmental message. (Performance will be outside on north side of Community Building.)
1:30 p.m. SPEAKER: Energy Efficiency Financing for Your Home - Nickie Lee from the State Energy Office speaks about Efficiency Kansas, a state-wide revolving loan program offering financing to Kansans for residential and commercial energy efficiency retrofits.
2:30 p.m. SPEAKER: Plug in Electric Vehicles and Charging Stations - Larry Kinder with LilyPad EV speaks on plug in electric vehicles and their benefits to the environment and businesses.

2010 Lawrence Sustainable Homes Tour
The Lawrence Sustainable Homes Tour will occur on Saturday, September 11th in conjunction with the Lawrence Energy Conservation Fair. As a part of the American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour, the primary purpose of this tour is education. The focus is energy-saving techniques and sustainability through building design, efficient appliances, and use of green materials during remodeling. The tour also provides helpful, real-world examples of costs and how to save money with federal, state, and local incentives.
Tour tickets will be sold on site at the Fair and buses will leave from the Community Building. Tickets are $10 per adult and $3 per child under 14.

Lawrence Transit System Free Ridership Day
The Lawrence Transit System will offer free rides on the T all day Saturday, September 11th, providing the experience and benefits of public transportation on all fixed routes.
